solving common heating and cooling problems

"Why is my A/C not cooling? Why is my heat pump not heating? What's that funny noise my unit is making?"

We get asked LOTS of questions about problems with heat pumps and air conditioners not performing correctly. Sometimes we can pinpoint the problem right off,  and then sometimes the answer is just as much a mystery to us as it is to you! That's why it may be necessary for us to FIRST do a walk through and perform some diagnostic testing to troubleshoot the area the problem is stemming from. Then we can address the specific issue that is causing the problem,  and suggest the appropriate fix, repair or replacement.

ways we troubleshoot your system:

  • Check for dirty or clogged filters
  • Check supply and return vents for obstructions
  • Check for damaged fan blades
  • Check for a faulty compressor
  • Check batteries in themostat
  • Check for a refrigerant leak
  • Check for frozen evaporator coils
  • Check for a faulty thermostat
  • Check for electrical/control board issues
